I think we all underestimate how much context matters regarding our behaviours.
Most people approach the problem like oh i wanna change A. but then dont realize how habits work or contexts work.
I think there's a good reason why there are high costs to smoking; socially, economically and legally. Putting these penalties, from a psychological POV reduces the triggers that one would experience in life, and as a result the triggering/starting of those said mental programmes.
It's been eternity since i last took a stick and i currently have very low to no cravings; while at my peak i could take half a box a day (non-regularly).
and tbh the period ive been smoking lasted about 2 years or so. That's kinda really fucking unhealthy.
Which brought me back to think about my army days when I could survive on protein shakes only, with one full meal a week for a month... i realize that back then i only had to resist one meal a day; and if i gymmed after work, i would be less likely to have cravings.
now isn't that interesting.
compare it to my well stocked, super full of snacks home, when all i need to do is take 5 steps to get a sugar filled snack... then it leads to a cycle of increasing snacking...
as each snack causes more snacking, and the more snacking causes even more; you know the drill.
then of course with each snack eaten there's a psychological negative externality that's not priced into the snack consumed; i lose motivation to exercise, my overall integrity drops and i turn into a slob.
well...
isn't it the same for social media? --
I would also like to say to myself that environmental design is just one side of the coin; the other side is about self-control -- the cow must bend to drink from the pond.
but i think running with autopilot and environmental design is damn important. i think i need to put it in my fucking list. CB
Anyways I fucked up by not exercising. Will include it tomorrow.
1. Study for at least 4 hours + Spend 30 mins reviewing work done the previous day
2. Exercise for at least 0.5 hours (No PMO)
3. Disconnect from mindless FB/IG/Social/Email/Youtube/Scrolling/Computer Use in General + Read up 1 Chapt on Programming / (After 18th - program one thing a day)
4. Post on this blog Morning and Evening
5. Replace one main meal per day with a salad or broth-based veg or lentil soup (NIGHT)
